We are on to Joshua Cohen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Netanyahus, a book that is clearly different in tone (and content) than most of the titles we traditionally discuss on this show. So in this episode David, Heidi, and Tim (he’s back!) contemplate the book’s sense of humor, Cohen’s remarkable prose, and what makes it memorable and worth reading. Happy listening!
Does anyone else think there is an underlying cynicism in this book? That he is implying all believers (of all faiths) are worshiping at the church of the assumption?
I love the audiobook version read by the author. Maybe I’m also a member of the Church of the Assumption, but I like hearing his Jewish accent. I’m listening to it for the second time and it is especially funny since I just served on an academic hiring committee. Sometimes dark humour is the only possible response!
VERY excited for these episodes ٩( ᐛ )و
Does this book remind anyone else of Herman Wouk’s works?
