All I want to do is listen to Bach now!! Since I don’t actually know anything about classical music, though I am very overwhelmed trying to figure out what to listen to. Can people please make recommendations??

Yes! Go to this website, and I'd suggest since it's Christmas, listen to the Magnificat. The text is in Latin, but you can get the translation in the Bible, first chapter if Luke. https://www.bachvereniging.nl/en/allofbach

They have the Christmas Oratorio also and give background, texts, translations, and videos on their website. https://www.bachvereniging.nl/en/bwv/bwv-248-1

I am so excited about this series. I LOVED the book and have recommended it to friends or bought it as a present for people. It’s my favorite book of the year (if you don’t count Kristin Lavransdatter).

I am not objective but approach this book as a lover. I had the joy of singing the cantatas for a few years and think those are the works that most intimately reveal the man. I'm so obsessed reading this that I'm trying to figure out what arias are being referenced if I'm unfamiliar. Here's the one I think from chapter 4 written for Stefan. https://youtu.be/Bl4ISpXNuaY?si=jjnfSZIjh5E9feco
