I wanted to thank you for these wonderful episodes on Tess and ask some question.
I heard some people say that Tess is the most depressing book they've read and that they can't find any hope in it.
Though I personally can find moments of hope in it I have to admit that the book is quite depressing.
And here the questions:
Are there more depressing books you can think of? Does the ending make it more or less depressing? And would have Holden Caulfield been more depressed if he would've read Tess instead of Return of the Native? He said he likes Eustacia Vye. Would he like Tess?
