I have never read Cormac McCarthy before but I just finished listening to All the Pretty Horses for the first time (& associated CR episodes) and I just loved it!!!
Thanks for taking the time to talk about McCarthy because I might never have thought to read him otherwise. I’m now looking forward to exploring some of his other books. Also, it would be excellent if you did The Road on CR next year!
Regarding Cormac McCarthy and women, in the last episode David and Tim listed some authors who they considered to be the voices of the generation. However, this list was notably lacking a single female author. Thus my question: are there women authors that we can consider to also have shaped and defined the literary generation? (My mother and I discussed this and we came up with a few and noted that they seem to lean towards being genre writers, but I want to call on David and Tim as well as anyone else who has thoughts about this to add or qualify these thoughts.)
I am in the middle of Willa Cather’s trilogy, but I think once I finish, I will switch over to the Road. I think those two authors might have a few things in common. Makes me wish the Coen brothers would direct a Cather adaptation.
Hey! I'm a woman who loves Cormac McCarthy! I went through a phase where I couldn't read anything else. I wrote a few papers on his books in grad school.
After listening to both Cormac episodes and after having read "The Road" and "All the Pretth Horses," I have now started "No Country for Old Men." Thanks, y'all!
Yup count me in too! Although I wouldn’t know it if it weren’t for close reads! I keep saying stuff like that hahaha but I really appreciate this podcast for helping me read widely and deeply 😄❤️

Kinda depends on what you mean, I think. Mostly by generation.

Yesterday I totally forgot about Sunset Limited. It's fantastic! Thanks for reminding me Heidi!
I just want to put my hand up and say I am a woman who really loves Cormac McCarthy! We do exist!

Sean mentions the Coke, but the peaches! Except for the red color of blood, the first color we see is in this scene.
