This was such a good episode! I'm loving the discussion on this book, and am here to say YES PLEASE to the idea of doing an episode or two on common place books!

Great episode. I love the discussion on point of view. It's helping me pay closer attention to that element.

Re-reading this book for the fourth/fifth time, I'm once again impressed by how much Austen packs into the Lyme episode. It's such a huge turning point in the story. This time, I was struck by how Anne, overlooked and invisible for so much of the book, is seen and noticed by the people around her--first as a very pretty woman by an attractive stranger and Wentworth, then as a capable person by Charles and Wentworth after Louisa's fall. I particularly noted how they looked to her for direction.

One thing I'm wondering about is if there's a symbolic connection to all these events occurring by the sea. The sea represents change, danger, a turn in fortune, even death. On the surface level, bringing Anne to Lyme also draws her closer into Wentworth's naval world, but I'm turning over the symbolism of the sea in my mind as well.

I am enjoying this book and the episodes so very much. It’s my first time reading this book and Wow! Why did I wait so long? As an aside I would absolutely love an episode and more conversations on commonplace journals.

Shawn provides a lot of good information. However, I would enjoy his presence even more if he waited for others to finish their thoughts.

Great show, guys. Thanks.
