Dear Close Reads community,
I want to tell you about a new project that we’re very excited about.
Later this summer we’re releasing a series of books called Beehive Book Club Guides, written by Hayley Croft and Haley Bouffard. Chock-full of practical tools and tips for hosting memorable bookish gatherings with children, they are the perfect out-of-the-box resource for anyone looking to provide creative, fun, and thoughtful book clubs for kids of any age.
I am excited about Beehive for several reasons:
First, because these books are designed to help kids get excited about books . . .
Second, because they will help kids actually think about books . . .
Third, because they are beautiful, thoughtfully constructed, and practical books themselves . . .
And fourth, because they’re written by two longtime Close Reads listeners1!
It seems natural for us to publish a resource that will help parents and communities do exactly what we try to do here at Close Reads, but it’s extra special to be able to help friends within the CR community do it—to help them pass along our collective mutual love of stories to the next generation. We are honored to be able to help them bring this project to you.
On July 22 we will be releasing the first two volumes, Family Favorites and Read the World, each of which provides five thorough book-specific templates for hosting a delightful book club.
Longtime friends, Haley and Hayley have been leading book clubs for years and along the way they’ve developed and honed a treasure trove (a slew, you might say) of helpful resources, from kid-friendly (but still thought-provoking) discussion questions to delicious recipes and genuinely delightful activities.
You can pre-order now at a discounted rate and get an additional discount when you buy them together—and pre-orders really are the life-blood of every indie publisher and author.
Click here to learn more and to see the titles included in each.
So gather the families in your community and get ready for a bookish good time—which, as you know, is one of the best kinds of good times you can have.
(And, who knows, maybe in, oh, 25 years, a few of the kids in your community will be producing their own bookish podcast . . . if podcasts are even a thing still).
Happy reading!
Related: Beehive guides are also proofed by Mary Jo Tate, another longtime Close Reads listener. It’s so gratifying to get to work with so many like-minded friends.
So cool! Love this
Love this so much, excited we all get to learn from your wisdom, Hayley and Haley!🥹
