Okay, so last week I started this thread, which gave you an opportunity to help us decide which book we will read next on the subscriber-exclusive series of episodes.
So the thing I LOVE about close reads is even if my choice isn’t picked it will most likely be something I’ve “been meaning to read”. This is one of those. And one I probably would not pick up on my own but will now because I’ll have company while reading it.
I am really looking forward to this! I read this 25 years ago when I was 25 and remember being so engrossed with it. I am excited to do a re-read and to listen to the podcast discussion. Anna is one of my favorite books ever and I LOVED listening to the discussion it. So glad you guys do these!
This is perfect! Over Easter I was visiting my sister in Florida and saw East of Eden on her bookshelf. After reading the first couple of chapters, I was completely hooked and delighted when she loaned me her copy to take back home to Texas!
This makes me so over the moon ecstatic!!! (Look at all the exclamation points). East of Eden has meant so much to me over many years. I can’t wait!!! You always choose the best possible books for the subscriber episodes. Thank you, guys, for all you do.
Thank you for explaining your reasoning and point system! Looking forward to KL sometime in the future. East of Eden was one of the shorter options of longer books, so it’s a nice option for it not to take 9 months on the next book.
East of Eden was one of my best reads last year (and I love Steinbeck in general) so very very excited to hear y'all talk about it!
