On this episode of Close Reads, Angelina, Tim, and David continue their conversation on Flannery O'Connor's collection of stories, Everything That Rises Must Converge, with "The Comforts of Home."
I thought the dark grace in this story was Star Drake (dragon/snake of light) herself, a grace seemingly disguised as the devil. Thomas keeps hardening his heart against her (were there 3 main instances?) and then in his final chance he chooses to harden it for the last time and puts the gun in her pocketbook instead of choosing the other path leading to the damnation. The voice in his head turned out to be the evil force rather than Star.
