It’s almost Thanksgiving (somehow) and as the year draws to a close we only have a handful of episodes left until our 2023 schedule begins. But, boy, this last month and a half should be great here at Close Reads.

On the flagship show, Tim is back and we’re digging into Chaim Potok’s beautiful novel, My Name is Asher Lev (the first episode drops on Monday), a book which Tim loves but that is a first time read for both Heidi and I (preview: we’re a little mesmerized).

Meanwhile, for subscribers of CRHQ we’ll finish the year by discussing a book that’s been requested for years: C.S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces. If you have been listening for a while you probably know that I have some complaints about this book. In fact, I seem to have gained a reputation for disliking it. But I don’t dislike it. I just think it’s more flawed than most of Lewis’ other work. I also know that it’s truly beloved by many of you, so I can’t wait to dig into it again. There’s so much to talk about and Lewis is always compelling and thought-provoking.

And as always, we’ll end the year by discussing our favorite books we read in 2022 (since, you know, all of our TBR lists aren’t long enough already).
