Sweet Show Swag + The End of the Affair
Hello Close Readers,
Hope you’re okay out there—hunkered down wherever you are. I guess the good thing about being lifelong book-lovers is that we have some easy go-to ways to spend quarantime.
I wanted to quickly let you know about a few things. First, we’ve got some Sweet Show Swag, if you’re so inclined, and then I’ll share the reading schedule for Graham Greene’s The End of the Affair, which we’ll start the first week of May.
First: Sweet Show Swag.
We have T-shirts, Ragland Ts, totes, and a handmade linocut print commissioned by some listeners that I am not entirely sure why someone would want to own, but which is a super well done. All of these are available in very limited quantities, so if you want one better get on it.
Thanks so much to the very kind people of the Jocose Reads Facebook group who helped make the creation of these products possible. The Close Reads community is incredible and we are genuinely honored to be a part of it.
Reading Schedule: The End of the Affair
Many of you have expressed how much you loved the series of shows we did on Greene’s The Power and the Glory, and while this book is pretty different, I think you’ll enjoy this series, too. The End of the Affair is a fascinating, controversial book.
Here’s the plan:
May 5 - Book 1
May 12 - Book 2
May 19 - Book 3
May 26 - Book 4, chapters 1-3
June 3 - Book 4, chapters 4-8
June 10 - Q&A episode
(If you don’t have a copy yet, head over to our Bookshop.org page to buy and support the show).
That’ll do it for now, but as always thanks for listening.
Happy reading,
-DK and the Close Reads team
