I hope Invisible Man will be host pick even if it doesn't make this round!

I have not read any of these authors previously. Similar to Beth, previous, I am voting for Ellison because I can go back and listen to the podcasts for a McCarthy or a Cather work. I researched Robinson's Housekeeping. My preference would be for a novel with some narrative drive and energy to it; my impression is that Housekeeping is a bit more slow-burn and subtle.

It’s so hard to choose! I’m torn between The Invisible Man and My Antonia.

All great choices - so hard to choose. I will be happy with any of them!

We just finished reading My Antonia; it'd be great to hear that one.

I did it again. Voted and then regretted my choice. Two years in a row.

I absolutely love Robinson, but I’m voting for Ellison and McCarthy because I have read neither of those titles but they’re on my TBR. Knowing I could tune into a Close Reads discussion might mean I’ll read them in 2026.

It’s split because the choices are all top notch!

I have a request to read another Amor Towles book sometime. :)

Yes! Especially if the title of said book starts with the letter "R" and ends with "ules of Civility."

I feel about Housekeeping the way I do about my most compelling and inscrutable dreams—moved, deeply touched, and overwhelmed by the symbolism but with no idea, really, what it is I have just experienced. I hope it wins.

Can we change our original vote?!

Will there be an entire “winnowing” episode still? Or just an announcement?
