Hello friends,
It’s so hot here in NC. And humid. And gross. And I’ll always take the cold over this. The truth is, for me, summer is every bit the grab-a-book-and-a-beverage-and-get-comfortable season that winter is. I’d rather read than sweat— which, come to think of it, is probably why I’m a bookseller. But, as every bibliophile knows, different books suit different seasons. Our next book—Sing, Unburied, Sing—is a wonderful summer book. The prose is luminous and lovely, like a summer evening’s sky, but it’s also a bit diaphoretic, drenched as it is in yearning and hard-fought hope. It’s a sweet tea and peaches book, where the glass is glistening and the peach is one of those trash can peaches. (These are compliments). I hope you’re planning to read along, especially because it’s a great pairing with To Kill a Mockingbird.
With that in mind, here’s your July programming update, which also includes information on our next HQ read and our July poetry hour. Thanks for being a part of things.

ICYMI:
Happy reading!
Just finished the first three chapters of Sing, Unburied, Sing. Holy hand Grenade, Batman. I cannot wait to hear the episode on this.
I didn’t comment soon enough to do this instead of Mansfield Park, but I would love a series on The Odyssey on the bonus shows. That book is a mystery to me.
