Loved this so much! Y’all’s comments on Harry Potter had me thinking it’d be fun to hear a “modern classics forecast” bracket.. which books from past 50 years you think will stand the test of time. Winner will be decided in a couple hundred years! 😆
This is such a great episode. I added more titles to my reading list, and cannot wait to venture back to the 1860s. My vote went to David mainly for LesMis and Gone with the Wind.
I did this scientifically and made a chart. I ranked each category 1-3 and then totaled the points. Lowest points won and it was David by two. Which is appropriate since I think David would most appreciate this method of voting 😂
Gotta give it to David on this one. Every selection he made had me cheering. Extra kudos for including Wilkie Collins (underrated) over George Eliot (overrated).
Farmer Boy may be the best children’s book ever written. Combined with 20,000 Leagues, Alice in Wonderland, and War and Peace, I think that adds up to a winning slate for Heidi. Very fun episode!
I ended up going with Sean. I waffled between Sean and David. I just love listening to the draft episodes. Maybe I will try to add a few more of these classics before the end of the year, because I just hate when I haven't read all the choices to make a more informed vote.

I like David’s selection—so much variety, and so many of my favorite books included!
Hand Brinker is one of the first books I read for myself. ♥️

The Russian category just basically is a wash, because if you like any Russian novels, then you love all those three picks.
Heidi: because Wives&Daughters, Farmer Boy, Alice in Wonderland.

If I had to pick one list to read right now it would be David's. I love these episodes
Little Women, Les Mis, Woman in White - Wives and Daughters almost swayed me, but David's whole slate was too good :)

David solely for the fact he chose Little Women. I love that book!
It was a tie for me so I had to give it to Sean for his epic puns!
But I'm realizing I have a lot of books I need to read.
Heidi won it for me with War and Peace and Farmer Boy for me!
Great episode. I voted for Sean. He has four great picks: Great Expectations, Tales of Wayside Inn, Brothers Grimm and East of Eden.
