I had the same experience of reading Dogberry the first time as merely a buffoon, but appreciating him as foolishly noble and endearing the second time. Yes, Heidi, I think he is like a holy fool/jester turning things on their heads. The wise are faithless, impotent fools (Leonato!) and the impotent, faithful fool is wise. There’s something more I’m not quite sure; it’s like he’s at the center of this chiastic turning - couples from love/loathing to loathing/love. Yeah he’s the anti-protagonist (is that a thing?), a confusingly upright hero and inverse of the straightforwardly villainous Don John. I’m sure if I ever met a real holy fool I would just find them crazy and annoying, so I like that we are not completely comfortable with Dogberry’s character.
P.S. sweet potato with brown sugar pecan crumble all day (once a year, yeah). But apparently I need to up my appreciation of gravy.

Can you make these longer? Got to savor the good books.
